Below are just a few testimonials from the many satisfied Sentico customers.

After hearing a notice about this in the RNIB Newsletter I contacted Sentico and had their house alarm system installed last November, 2005.

I have been very favourably impressed by the quality of service and after-sales care and assistance. The number of sensors required was very carefully assessed with no pressure to buy more than were absolutely necessary. The engineer who installed the system was extremely helpful and generous with his time, and there was an opportunity at this stage to review the number and positioning of the sensors.

The firm offers on-going technical support free of charge and nothing is too much trouble. I have found the use of a key-fob invaluable for arming and disarming the alarm from outside the front door!

We secured our home the smart way

My husband and I had been shopping around for a new home security system, ever since our old one had spectacularly crashed at precisely the wrong time. We were bewildered by the many types of systems we could have installed, and by the many price points, from a hundred pounds to several thousands. Nothing we looked at, however, seemed quite to fit our needs and our pockets. We wanted a comprehensive system which would be easy to use, monitored twenty-four hours a day, which could be armed from a key-chain as well as from a panel, and which would also include a smoke alarm. Nothing we looked at fitted all our requirements, and those systems which were monitored were way out of our price range, as although the initial down-payment was not too bad, the monthly monitoring charge was exorbitant.

The one day I was reading the RNIB Vision magazine, and I came across an advertisement for the Smart Security System. I could hardly believe it. Here was a system which fitted all our criteria and more. It had full voice prompts, Braille on the control panel, could be armed and disarmed both from the panel and from key-chains, could be monitored for a very reasonable monthly fee, and additional modules could be purchased including wrist-watch panic buttons, programmable lights and a smoke alarm. The initial cost was within our price range, and we lost not time in telephoning Sentico for more details.

This is where we'll hit problems, I thought: there'll only be print literature. My husband and I are both registered blind, and would not have been able to read a printed brochure. But no, we were offered literature in a number of formats, including an audio CD. This quickly arrived and was very clear and easy to understand, including recordings of the synthesized voice which would be used on the panel which was very helpful. When we had decided to purchase the system, we spoke again to the people at Sentico to discuss our needs. There was no hard sell, just a quiet, helpful question and answer session, and our system was ordered for us and an installation date booked.

The system was installed quickly and painlessly, we were given full training in its use, plus Braille instruction manual, and we have now had our system fully functional for four months. We are very happy with the way it works. Each night before we go to bed, we switch the door and window alarms on, and disarm them when we get up: this means we can sleep in peace. When we go out, we switch the door and window alarms and the motion sensors on with the key-chain alarm after we have left the house, and disarm them before we open the door, which avoids any accidental triggering of the alarm, it's blissfully simple. We do know the monitoring works, because once we accidentally set the smoke alarm off by cooking sausages without opening the kitchen window! Although I did disarm the alarm and called the centre, I still got a call to check that everything was all right.

The two other things I need too mention are: firstly, the dial-in facility. This means that if the control panel is malfunctioning, or even if we need to change a programme and are having problems, we can ring Sentico, and a technician can dial into our panel and do it for us. This is a brilliant thing and saves many white hairs in both our heads! Secondly, there is the unique key safe. This is also a wonderful idea which means that our key holders can enter the property if they need to without us having to have keys cut for them, which keeps the place more secure. It also means that if either of us needs a spare key for any reason, we know there is one there.

In conclusions, I think it is fair to say that although the Smart Security System may not be the cheapest alarm on the market, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone, especially someone with a visual impairment. There are things, maybe of little monetary value that if they were lost through burglary or fire would be irreplaceable. By installing the Smart Security System, we have bought not only a state of the art alarm, but something which I consider cheap at the price: peace of mind.

A Letter of recommendation:-

Being totally blind I can highly recommend the 'Smart Security System' it is easy to use as it actually speaks to you when pressing the buttons to activate it.

The back up system is very good as any alterations required are only a phone call away and carried out from their office by phone.

A simple but efficient way of protecting my family and myself.
